Tashiding Monastery Details: Tashiding Monastery is considered one of the most sacred and holiest monasteries in Sikkim, belonging to the Nyingma sect. It was founded in 1641 by Ngadak Sempa Chempo Phunshok Rigzing, who was one of the three wise lamas who crowned the first king. The name Tashiding t ranslates to "The Devoted Central Glory," and it is believed that the mere sight of the monastery can cleanse one of all sins. It is nestled on a hilltop between the Rathong and Rangeet rivers, creating a stunning spiritual landscape. The monastery is famous for the Bhumchu festival, which involves a sacred water ceremony held in February. Thousands of devotees from Bhutan, Nepal, and India travel here to receive a few drops of the holy water. The monastery complex is vast, housing several ancient chortens and shrines.
