Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple

Suryapet, Telangana, India
Mattapally is home to the renowned Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple, situated on the scenic banks of the River Krishna. This temple is one of the Pancha Narasimha Kshetras (five sacred Narasimha sites) in the region. The temple is famous for its Swayambhu (self-manifested) idol of Lord Narasimha in a se ated yogic posture. Legend has it that the deity appeared in the dream of a local king, Machi Reddy, and instructed him to build the temple. The temple is unique because it follows the Vaikhanasa Agama tradition of worship. One of the most significant features of this temple is the Nitya Annadanam (daily free food), which has earned it the name Annalayam. Devotees from all over the country visit here to perform Pradakshinas (circumambulations) to fulfill their wishes. The atmosphere is deeply spiritual, with the sound of the flowing Krishna River providing a natural background to the Vedic chants. The temple complex is also known for its hospitality, providing free accommodation to many pilgrims. It is a place where nature and divinity coexist in perfect harmony. The river ghats allow devotees to take a holy dip before entering the sanctum.
