Bung Peak

Aizawl, Mizoram, India
Bung Peak is a breathtaking vantage point located adjacent to the Selesih area. It is one of the highest accessible peaks near Aizawl, offering a 360-degree view of the rugged Mizo hills. The peak is surrounded by lush tropical forests and is a favorite spot for adventurous trekkers and hikers who wish to see the clouds floating below them. Historically, the area has been used by locals as a lookout point, and today it serves as a serene getaway for nature lovers. The climb to the peak is relatively easy but provides a rewarding sense of accomplishment once you reach the top. From the summit, one can see the winding Tlawng River and, on very clear days, even the distant hills of Myanmar. The ecosystem around Bung Peak is rich with indigenous bamboo species and diverse birdlife. It is a place where one can truly feel the scale of the North Eastern landscapes. There are small shelters at the base and along the path for visitors to rest. The peak is often shrouded in mist during the monsoon, creating a magical, ethereal environment. It is less commercialized than other spots, providing a more "raw" nature experience.
