Khuangchera Puk
Khuangchera Puk is an extensive natural cave system located near the village of Ailawng. It is named after Khuangchera, a legendary Mizo warrior who was famous for his immense strength and bravery during the late 19th century. The cave is approximately 162 meters long, making it one of the longest and most famous caves in Mizoram. For adventure seekers, this is the ultimate destination in the Aizawl district. Entering the cave requires a bit of crawling and squeezing through narrow passages, leading into larger chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is dark and houses a colony of bats, adding to the mysterious and wild atmosphere. Historically, such caves were used as hideouts during tribal wars and later during the insurgency periods. The air inside is cool and damp, and the sound of dripping water creates a rhythmic subterranean soundtrack.
