Mangal Dham is one of the most beautiful and spiritually uplifting temples in Kalimpong. Built in the year 1993, this temple complex is dedicated to the memory of Guruji Shri Mangaldasji Maharaj, a saint who arrived in Kalimpong in 1940 and dedicated his life to the service of the poor and the orph an. The temple is spread over a sprawling area of two acres and is primarily dedicated to Lord Krishna. The complex is a masterpiece of modern religious architecture, featuring vibrant colors and meticulously maintained gardens. As you enter, you are greeted by a large prayer hall on the upper floor which houses the idols of Raj Shyamji, Prannathji, and Guruji Mangaldasji. The most striking feature of Mangal Dham is the series of life-sized statues and vivid paintings that decorate the walls. These artworks depict various scenes from the life of Lord Krishna, known as Krishna Leela, as well as stories from the Mahabharata. The ground floor of the temple houses the Samadhi (tomb) of Guruji Mangaldasji, where devotees sit in silent meditation. The atmosphere inside the temple is incredibly calm, making it a perfect spot for those looking to escape the noise of the main market. The surrounding gardens are filled with seasonal flowers like marigolds and dahlias, adding to the aesthetic beauty of the place.
