How To Reach Lari Village

Lari Village is a site of deep emotional and cultural significance in the Arwal district, famous for the Sati Sthan memorial. It commemorates the life of Sonamati, a woman who is believed to have committed Sati in January 1986. While the practice of Sati is legally banned and socially discouraged, the site has evolved into a place of local folk worship where people come to honor the concepts of marital devotion and sacrifice. A beautiful temple was constructed here in 1987 to mark the spot. The village itself is typical of rural Bihar, with vast agricultural fields and a slow-paced life. Thousands of people visit this shrine during the Basant Panchami festival to seek blessings for a happy married life. The story of Sonamati is part of the local folklore, and the site is maintained with great care by the villagers. It serves as a reminder of the complex social and religious fabric of the region.

How to Reach

By Air: Patna Airport is 75 KMS away. You can take a bus to Arwal and then a local tempo to Kurtha.

By Train: Jehanabad is the nearest railway station (28 KMS). From there, plenty of shared taxis and buses go towards Kurtha and Lari.

By Road: It is located in the Kurtha block. The road from Arwal to Kurtha is well-maintained.

By Local Transport: Shared autos are the lifeline here. You can find them at the Kurtha more or Arwal bus stand.
