How To Reach Old Chief Lallianvunga's Land
Hmuifang, Mizoram, India:
The Old Chief Lallianvunga's Land refers to the historically significant parcel of land on the summit of Hmuifang Tlang where the present-day Hmuifang Tourist Resort is built. Lallianvunga was one of the prominent Mizo Sailo chiefs who ruled over the villages in this mountain range during the pre-co lonial and early colonial era. The land is historically significant as the center of his authority and residence. The Mizoram Government chose this site for the resort to honor and preserve this history, often viewing the resort itself as a 'heritage village' of sorts. The area encompasses the grassy glades and the immediate forest boundaries near the resort. Standing on this land is a powerful connection to the pre-modern, traditional Mizo social structure, where the chief held absolute power over the village and the surrounding forest land. Today, it is mostly a beautiful, tranquil, open space ideal for reflecting on the history of the Mizo people and the enduring legacy of their chiefs.

How to Reach

By Air:Reach Lengpui Airport (AJL) (approx. 84 KMS) and take a taxi to the Hmuifang Tourist Resort area.

By Train:Reach Silchar Railway Station (SCL) (approx. 227 KMS), transfer to Aizawl, and then hire a vehicle for the 50 KMS drive to the resort.

By Road:Take a direct taxi or shared sumo from Aizawl (approx. 50 KMS) towards Hmuifang. The land is the summit where the resort is located.

By Local Transport:Shared sumos will drop passengers at the resort gate, and from there, it is a short walk onto the former chief's land.
