How to Reach
Flight to Agatti then Sea/Helicopter: To reach the island where the beach is located, the first leg is a flight from Kochi (COK) to Agatti (AGX). The extensive inter-island transfer from Agatti to Minicoy (375 km) is primarily by Ship or limited Helicopter service. The ship journey is the most common and often integrated into the standard Minicoy tourist packages.
By Train and Road:
Not Applicable to the Island: Direct train or road travel to the island is impossible. Travel to the gateway city of Kochi by rail or road is the only use of these modes.
By Sea:
Direct Ship from Kochi: The most practical and reliable way is the overnight passenger Ship service from Kochi to Minicoy (398 km). The ship docks at the main jetty, which is located on the western side, very close to the start of the Western Coast Beach Walk and the tranquil lagoon.
By Local Transport on Minicoy:
Foot and Bicycle for the Walk: The Western Coast Beach flanks the main lagoon and is easily accessible from the main jetty and the tourist resorts. The best way to experience the long stretch of the beach walk is on foot, allowing for a slow, relaxing stroll. Bicycles are the ideal transport for quickly moving between different points of the long coastline or connecting to the villages that back the beach. Local Tempo services can take visitors to the northern or southern ends of the beach for a one-way walk back.
