Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary

Yaganti, Andhra Pradesh, India
Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary is a unique grassland ecosystem spread over 6.14 square kilometers in the Nandyal district. Established in 1988, it was primarily created to protect the Great Indian Bustard, which is one of the rarest bird species in the world. The sanctuary's landscape resembles an Af rican savannah, with vast stretches of dry grass and low shrubs that provide the perfect habitat for ground-nesting birds. Apart from the famous Bustard, the sanctuary is home to a significant population of Blackbucks, Indian Wolves, and Foxes. During the winter months, the nearby Alaganuru Reservoir becomes a hotspot for migratory birds like Greater Flamingos and Bar-headed Geese. It is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature photographers who want to see wildlife in its most natural and undisturbed state. The sanctuary offers a quiet escape from the noise of the city, where only the sound of the wind and bird calls fill the air. The conservation efforts here are vital for the survival of several endangered species. It is a must-visit for anyone interested in ecology and wildlife conservation.
