Omkareshwara Temple

Coorg, Karnataka, India
The Omkareshwara Temple is a magnificent spiritual landmark established in 1820 by King Lingarajendra II. Legend says the King built it to appease the spirit of a Brahmin he had unjustly executed. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is unique because it lacks the traditional pillared halls o f Hindu temples. Instead, it features a central dome and four minarets, making it look more like a Muslim Dargah or mosque. The temple is surrounded by a peaceful water tank filled with sacred fish, where the reflection of the structure creates a serene visual. It remains a primary destination for devotees and history buffs visiting Coorg.
