Raja's Tomb

Coorg, Karnataka, India
Raja's Tomb, locally known as Gaddige, is a historical monument that houses the mortal remains of the Kodava kings and their families. Built in 1820, the complex features three main tombs. The central tomb belongs to King Doddaveerarajendra and his queen, while the smaller ones are for his brother Lingarajendra and the royal priest Rudrapa. The site is fascinating because it combines Hindu and Islamic architecture, with domes and minarets similar to the Omkareshwara Temple. Unlike most tombs, these contain Shiva Lingas inside, as the kings were Hindus. It offers a commanding view of the town and is surrounded by well-kept gardens.
