Makhnahi Pokhar is a large, historic pond (pokhar or sarovar) located near Makhnahi village on the outskirts of Darbhanga city. Like many large water bodies in the Mithila region, it is believed to have been excavated during the reign of the Raj Darbhanga rulers for religious or public utility purpo ses, such as conservation and serving the needs of the adjacent village community.
