Pavoor Uliya is a peaceful, small island situated right in the middle of the mighty Netravathi River, just a short drive from the main city. The name Uliya literally means "leftover or remaining land" in the local language, referring to its formation. It is a predominantly Roman Catholic settlement , with about 35 houses and a small chapel named Infant Jesus Chapel. It's known for its serene, unspoiled environment, a stark contrast to the bustle of Mangalore. The primary livelihoods here are fishing and agriculture, with fields of coconut, mango, and jackfruit trees. Development has been slow, adding to its rustic charm; there are no street lights, major shops, or medical facilities, making it a true escape.
