Travel Tips Of Thimmamma Marrimanu

Yaganti, Andhra Pradesh, India
Thimmamma Marrimanu is a legendary banyan tree that holds the Guinness World Record for the largest tree canopy in the world. Spread over 5 acres of land, this ancient giant is more than 550 years old and has over 1,100 prop roots that descend from its massive branches. According to local legend, t he tree grew from the funeral pyre of a woman named Thimmamma who committed sati in 1434 AD. Today, it is considered a sacred site where childless couples come to pray, believing that the goddess Thimmamma will bless them with children. The atmosphere under the tree is incredibly cool and tranquil, with the temperature being several degrees lower than the outside area. It feels like a natural cathedral made of wood and leaves. Walking through the maze of roots is a surreal experience as you realize you are still under a single living organism. The state government takes great care of the tree, providing supports for the growing branches to ensure the canopy continues to expand. It is not just a botanical wonder but a living symbol of faith and nature's endurance. Every visitor is left in awe of the sheer scale of this "Forest of One Tree."
