Chemrey Monastery

Chemrey Monastery, also known as Chemrey Gompa, is a beautiful and serene monastery belonging to the Drugpa monastic order. It was founded in 1664 by Lama Stagtsang Raspa, in memory of the Ladakhi King Sengge Namgyal. The monastery is known for its peaceful atmosphere and its impressive collection o f ancient manuscripts, including a valuable text with pages written in silver and gold. The monastery is situated on a hill overlooking the Chemrey village and offers a stunning view of the valley.
