How To Reach Thangpui Peak

Introduction to Saitual Peak: The peak referred to locally as Saitual Peak is the highest viewpoint in the immediate vicinity of the Saitual town center. It is not to be confused with the Thangpui Peak in Lunglei or the high peak in Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary. This local summit provides visitors wi th breathtaking, 360-degree panoramic views of the entire Saitual town, the surrounding valleys, and the distant Mizo hills. Geographical Importance: As the most prominent hill near the town, it serves as a crucial natural feature and a local landmark, often featuring a small viewing deck or a resting spot at its summit. The moderate altitude and well-established trail make it accessible for most locals and tourists. Recreational Value: The peak is a highly popular spot for local residents who undertake the hike for daily exercise, quiet contemplation, and enjoying the magnificent sunrises and sunsets. It represents the town's connection to its mountainous environment and provides a peaceful escape from town life. Viewpoint of the Town: From the top, one can clearly see the layout of the Saitual town below, nestled in the Mizo hills, offering a unique perspective on the urban-nature interface of the district. This makes it an excellent photographic location.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest airport is Lengpui Airport (AIZ), approximately 100 KMS away. Hire a private or shared taxi from the airport to Saitual town. The peak trailhead is accessible from the town center.

By Train: The nearest major railway station is Silchar Railway Station (SCL), about 200 KMS away. Travel to Aizawl by road, and then take a connecting shared taxi from Aizawl to Saitual's main market area.

By Road: Saitual is connected via the State Highway from Aizawl (87 km). Once in Saitual, ask for the trailhead to Saitual Peak (or the highest point). The base is often reachable by vehicle.

By Local Transport: A local taxi or auto-rickshaw in Saitual can easily take you from your accommodation to the base of the peak's trekking trail. For the climb, one relies entirely on foot.
