How To Reach Thasiama Seno Neihna

Historical Legend and Natural Splendor: Thasiama Seno Neihna is a magnificent plateau situated on a rugged hillock in Vaphai village. The name literally translates to the place where Thasiama's mithun gave birth to a calf. According to Mizo folklore, Thasiama was a man who had an affair with a beau tiful fairy named Chawngtinleri. The fairy blessed him with a gift that his mithun would multiply and make him prosperous. She guided the pregnant mithun to this steep rocky mound to protect it from tigers during delivery. Today, the site remains a symbol of this enchanting legend and offers a glimpse into the mystical past of the Mizo people. The plateau is a small, rocky mound with a flat top and sheer sides that stands out amidst thick vegetation. It is considered a nature's delight, offering a serene environment for reflection and connection with local culture. The journey to the top involves navigating a craggy terrain, which is an adventure in itself. Visitors are often captivated by the contrast between the rugged climb and the peaceful atmosphere at the summit. How to Reach

By Air and Road Connection: The nearest airport is Lengpui Airport in Aizawl, which is approximately 194 KMS from Champhai. From the airport, you can hire a private taxi for around 5000 Rupees or take a shared Sumo for 500 Rupees to reach Champhai town. Once in Champhai, you will need to hire a local Jeep or a powerful 4WD vehicle to travel the remaining 86 KMS to Vaphai village. The road from Champhai to Vaphai is narrow and winding, passing through beautiful forests and smaller villages, taking about 4 to 5 hours depending on road conditions.

By Train and Local Transport: The closest railway station is Silchar in Assam, situated about 180 KMS from Champhai. From Silchar, regular shared taxis and buses are available that head towards the Mizoram border and eventually to Champhai. Once you arrive at Vaphai village, the site is accessible by a short walk or local taxi. It is important to note that public transport directly to the site is limited, so pre-arranging a return trip with your driver is highly advisable to avoid being stranded in the remote location.
