Hlakungpui Mual

Champhai, Mizoram, India
The Sanctuary of Poets : Established in 1986, Hlakungpui Mual is a unique monument dedicated to the literary giants of Mizoram. It was initially built to honor two laureate poets, Patea and Damhauhva, but has since expanded to include dozens of writers and composers. The site is a beautifully landsc aped garden where stone monuments are erected every ten years to commemorate those who have made significant contributions to Mizo culture. It is often referred to as the "Poet's Square." The square also houses a library and an archive where personal belongings and original manuscripts of the poets are preserved. For literature enthusiasts, this is a sacred ground that showcases the soul of the Mizo people. The peaceful environment, surrounded by rolling hills and orchids, makes it a perfect place for contemplation and learning about the rhythmic history of the state.
