Lamsial Puk, also known as the Cave of Skeletons, is one of the most haunting and historically significant sites in Mizoram. Located on a steep cliffside, this small cave gained notoriety when a massive collection of human remains was discovered inside. The skeletons are believed to be those of war riors who died in a brutal inter-village war about 300 years ago. Unlike other caves that are famous for their beauty, Lamsial Puk is a somber memorial to the tribal conflicts of the past. The bones were found neatly stacked, suggesting a ritualistic or emergency burial. Even today, visitors can see fragments of these ancient remains, though many have been preserved or moved for study. The cave itself is relatively small, but its historical weight is immense. It offers a chilling reminder of the "days of the headhunters" and the fierce bravery of Mizo ancestors. The path to the cave involves a bit of a scramble, providing a sense of discovery.
