Adavinainar Dam

Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu, India
Adavinainar Dam is a majestic reservoir built across the Hanumanadhi River in the scenic village of Mekkarai. Completed in 2002, it serves as a primary irrigation source for over 15,000 acres of land across ten different villages. The dam is nestled at the base of the Western Ghats, offering a brea thtaking panoramic view of lush green mountains and misty clouds during the monsoon. It was originally conceptualized after a major flood in 1992 to manage water resources and prevent future landslides in the region. The area around the dam is famously known as a popular Shooting Spot for South Indian films due to its pristine nature. Visitors often find the atmosphere extremely peaceful as it is less crowded than the main falls in Courtallam. The reservoir's vast expanse of water reflecting the surrounding hills creates a surreal environment for nature lovers. It is maintained by the Public Works Department and has a well-kept park for children and families. The gentle breeze and the sound of distant waterfalls make it a perfect spot for meditation and mental relaxation. :
