Charekh Uttarakhand

Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, India
Charekh is a hidden hill station located at an elevation of 6,661 feet above sea level near Kotdwar. This place is historically significant as the heavenly abode of the great sage Maharishi Charak, the father of Ayurveda. It was here that he compiled the ancient text "Nighut," which details the med icinal properties of Himalayan herbs. The location offers a breathtaking 180-degree view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including the majestic Chaukhamba. Unlike other crowded hill stations, Charekh offers absolute peace and untouched natural beauty. The area is surrounded by dense forests of oak and rhododendron. Visitors can see the origin of the Malini River from the northern slopes of the mountain. At night, the viewpoint provides a shimmering view of the lights from the plains below. The environment is perfect for spiritual seekers, yoga enthusiasts, and nature lovers. There are a few boutique resorts in the area that offer a luxury stay amidst the wilderness, making it a perfect weekend getaway from Delhi or Dehradun.
