Pioneering Higher Education: Kiphire Government College, formally known as Zisaji Presidency College, is a pivotal educational institution, established on July 10, 1997. It is a co-educational college affiliated with Nagaland University and remains the sole institute for higher education in the Kip hire District, an eastern frontier bordering Myanmar. It was taken over by the Government of Nagaland in February 2006, underscoring its public importance. The college is strategically named "Zisaji" after three prominent geographical features of the district: ZI (Zingki River), SA (Saramati Peak), and JI (Jingkhu Valley), symbolizing its deep connection to the regional identity. The campus, located at Alikhong, is known for its scenic setting, surrounded by pine trees and offering a view of Mount Saramati. It is accredited with a Grade – B by NAAC, reflecting its commitment to academic quality. By Air: Fly into Dimapur Airport (DMU). The subsequent 360+ KMS journey to Kiphire must be completed by a long, scenic road trip via shared Sumo or private vehicle.
By Train: Take the train to Dimapur Railway Station, then continue the journey to Kiphire by road transport.
By Road: Arrive in Kiphire Town via the main state road network connecting from Kohima or Dimapur. The journey is lengthy due to the mountainous terrain.
By Local Transport: Kiphire Government College (Zisaji Presidency College) is located in the Alikhong area, approximately 3 KMS from the main town center. This distance makes a dedicated local shared or private taxi the best option. Shared taxis will generally drop you off at the main gate. The fare will be slightly higher than a central town ride.
