How To Reach Sujanpur Tira Fort

Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, India.
Perched on a hillock (Tira) overlooking the town of Sujanpur, the Sujanpur Tira Fort is a magnificent historical ruin that speaks of the valor of the Katoch dynasty. Built in 1758 by Raja Abhay Chand, it served as the royal capital for over a century. The fort became most prominent under Raja Sansa r Chand, who was a great patron of the arts, particularly the Kangra miniature paintings. Though much of the fort was destroyed in the devastating earthquake of 1905, the remains still offer a glimpse into the grand lifestyle of the Himalayan royalty. The massive "Baradari" hall, where the King held court, still stands with its impressive arches. The fort also houses five ancient temples, including the Gauri Shankar Temple. The views from the top are spectacular, offering a 360-degree look at the Beas River and the Dhauladhar mountains. It is a site where history, spirituality, and natural beauty converge, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in the heritage of Himachal Pradesh.
