Integrated Test Range

Chandipur, Odisha, India
The Integrated Test Range (ITR) view point in Chandipur offers a unique glimpse into India's premier missile testing facility. Operated by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), this site is where India's most famous missiles like Agni, Prithvi, and Akash are tested. While the ac tual facility is a high-security zone and restricted to the public, the beach area adjacent to it provides a vantage point where visitors can see the massive launch pads and radar domes from a distance. The sight of these technological marvels against the backdrop of the natural coastline is a moment of pride for every Indian. The area is strictly monitored, and photography of the sensitive installations is prohibited, but the general view of the "Missile Coast" is a significant draw for tourists. It represents a perfect harmony between nature's tranquility and India's advancing defense capabilities. This spot is also where the "Vanishing Sea" phenomenon is most visible, as the waters recede far away from the launch complexes twice a day.
