Memencho Lake
Memencho Lake is a pristine glacial water body situated at an altitude of approximately 13,000 feet near the Jelep La Pass. This lake is the primary source of the Rangpo Chu river and is renowned for its ever-changing water colors that shift from turquoise to deep blue depending on the sunlight. Su rrounded by dense pine forests and steep mountain slopes, the lake offers a serene atmosphere far from the usual tourist crowds. The sandy banks of the lake often resemble a high-altitude beach, providing a unique aesthetic contrast to the surrounding rugged Himalayan terrain. It is a strictly protected area under the Indian Army, ensuring its virgin beauty remains untouched.
