Overview: Pagoda Point, also famously known as Pyramid Point, is a significant viewpoint located on the eastern side of the Yercaud Hills. Its unique name comes from the four mysterious piles of stones that have been arranged in the shape of a Pyramid or a Pagoda, which are believed to have been con structed by the area's local tribal communities, historically known as the Malayali tribes. These piles of stones are a cultural and historical landmark, making the viewpoint more than just a scenic spot. Situated approximately 4.5 km from the main Yercaud Bus Stand, it offers a stunning, wide-ranging view of the entire Salem town on the plains, the distant Kakambadi village, and a large portion of the winding ghat road's hairpin bends. Importantly, the site also houses a small, revered temple dedicated to Lord Rama located between the pagodas, which holds religious significance for the local population and visitors, blending natural beauty with spiritual importance. Like other major viewpoints, it is highly recommended for both sunrise and sunset views, as the light over the Eastern Ghats and the lit-up city of Salem at night are truly mesmerizing. The spot is easily accessible and relatively well-maintained, attracting both casual tourists and those interested in the area's unique cultural heritage. The tranquil and pleasant climate makes it an ideal spot for a relaxing stop during a tour of Yercaud.
