Thampuranpara View Point
Detailed Overview: Thampuranpara View Point is a majestic rock hill station located near Vembayam in the Nedumangad taluk. Rising over 700 feet above sea level, it offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape, including the city of Thiruvananthapuram and the distant Arabian Sea . The site is a massive monolithic rock that requires a bit of a trek to reach the summit. According to local folklore, a portion of the Maruthwamala mountain fell here when Lord Hanuman was carrying it to Lanka, giving the rock its spiritual significance. At the top, there is a small shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and a massive 15-foot idol of Lord Ganapathy carved into the rock. The atmosphere at the summit is incredibly calm, with a constant cool breeze that rewards the climbers. The climb involves navigating several hundred steps carved into the stone. It has recently gained popularity as a sunset and sunrise point, attracting youngsters and fitness enthusiasts. The area is also known for an "ever-flowing spring" on the rock surface that never dries up, even in the harshest summers.
