Bhalka Tirth
Bhalka Tirth is one of the most poignant and spiritually significant sites in Gujarat, marking the spot where Lord Krishna ended his earthly journey. According to the Puranas, while the Lord was resting in meditation under a Peepal tree, a hunter named Jara mistook his foot for a deer and shot a po isonous arrow. This event signaled the end of the Dwapara Yuga and the beginning of the Kali Yuga. The temple complex is built around the very tree where this divine Leela took place. It is a place of deep reflection for followers of the Vaishnava tradition, who come here to pay their respects to the Lord in his final moments on Earth. The atmosphere is serene, with the scent of incense and the shade of ancient trees providing a sense of timelessness. The temple houses a beautiful idol of Krishna in a reclining posture, along with a statue of the repentant hunter Jara kneeling before him.
