Dehotsarg Teerth

Somnath, Gujarat, India
Dehotsarg Teerth, also known as Golok Dham, is the sacred site where Lord Krishna cast off his mortal coil and departed for his heavenly abode. After being struck by the hunter's arrow at Bhalka Tirth, the Lord walked to the banks of the Hiran river. Here, sitting under the shade of a tree, he conc luded his earthly avatar. The site is incredibly peaceful and is considered one of the most sacred spots in the world for Krishna devotees. The temple complex is beautifully landscaped and houses the footprint of the Lord in marble, known as Shri Krishna Charan. It is located exactly at the point where the Hiran river meets the sea, adding a profound natural beauty to the spiritual gravity of the place. The surroundings are filled with lush gardens and shrines dedicated to other deities. Pilgrims often perform rituals for their ancestors here, as it is believed to be a "Moksha Teerth" (place of liberation). The atmosphere is one of silence and reverence, punctuated only by the chirping of birds and the flowing water. Visiting Dehotsarg after Bhalka Tirth completes the narrative of the Lord's final days, making it a deeply emotional journey for many. The site also features a cave where Balram, the elder brother of Krishna, is said to have departed as well.
