Gumkhal is a tiny hamlet that serves as the highest transit point near Lansdowne. It is primarily famous for its breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan range. On a clear day, one can witness the majestic peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba. The viewpoint is surrounded by dense fores ts of oak and rhododendron. Unlike the more crowded spots in town, Gumkhal offers a raw and unfiltered connection with the mountains. The air here is noticeably thinner and crisper. It is a favorite spot for photographers who wish to capture the "Golden Hour" over the snow. The silence of the village is only broken by the whistling wind. Many trekkers use Gumkhal as a base for exploring nearby ridges. The view of the sunset from here is considered one of the best in the entire district. Small tea stalls along the road provide a cozy atmosphere to enjoy the vista. It is an ideal stop for those traveling towards Pauri. The changing colors of the peaks from white to orange at dusk is a sight to behold.
