The Kadmat Lagoon (West) is the vast, shallow, and protected body of water that separates the western shore of Kadmat Island from the fringing coral reef. It is the defining geographical feature of the island, a stunning expanse of water famed for its mesmerizing color palette, which shifts from dee p turquoise near the island to lighter aquamarine closer to the reef crest. The lagoon is approximately 2 kilometers at its broadest point and runs for nearly the entire 10-kilometer length of the island, encompassing a total area of about 37 square kilometers. This natural barrier protects the shoreline from the strong currents and waves of the open Arabian Sea, creating a safe and calm environment. The shallow depth, typically ranging from 1.5 to 3 meters, and the sandy bottom make it the perfect setting for a wide array of water sports, including snorkeling, kayaking, and windsurfing.
