How To Reach Kolanupaka Jain Temple

Bhongir, Telangana, India
The Kolanupaka Jain Temple, also known as Kulpakji, is one of the most significant and ancient Jain pilgrimage centers in South India. With a history spanning over 2,000 years, this temple is a testament to the deep-rooted presence of Jainism in the Telangana region. The temple houses three main ido ls of Tirthankaras: Lord Rishabhanatha, Lord Neminatha, and Lord Mahavira. The most striking feature of the temple is the idol of Lord Mahavira, which is 130 cm tall and carved entirely from a single piece of rare green jade (Manikyaswami). The temple complex is a spiritual oasis, attracting thousands of devotees and history buffs alike. Historically, Kolanupaka was a flourishing center of Jainism under the patronage of the Rashtrakutas and Western Chalukyas. The town itself was once a great capital known as Kollipaka, spread over a vast area with numerous temples and fortifications. Today, the renovated temple stands as a brilliant example of architectural restoration, combining ancient sanctums with modern marble craftsmanship. The atmosphere inside the temple is one of profound silence and devotion, with the scent of incense and the sight of intricate carvings transporting visitors to a different era. It is not just a place of worship but a cultural landmark that showcases the artistic excellence of ancient India.
