The closer Shillong Airport (SHL) at Umroi, about 70 KMS away, is mainly connected to Kolkata. From SHL, hire a taxi directly to Pynursla or via Shillong. The total journey always culminates in a road trip from the airport to Pynursla town.
By Train:
Via Guwahati Railway Station: The nearest major railway station is Guwahati Railway Station (GHY), about 145 KMS from Pynursla. GHY is well-connected to all major cities in India. From GHY, hire a dedicated tourist taxi or take a shared sumo towards Pynursla. The road journey takes about 4-5 hours and is the sole mode of transport into Meghalaya from the rail head. Always book your cab in advance, especially if arriving late in the evening.
By Road:
Direct from Shillong: Pynursla is located about 50-60 KMS from Shillong. The cathedral is situated right in the center of Pynursla town, making it easy to locate upon arrival. From Shillong, you can hire a dedicated cab from Police Bazaar or take a shared local sumo/taxi from the Bara Bazaar stand that is heading towards Pynursla or Dawki.
