Jor Pokhari Mandir

Soreng, Sikkim, India
A Sacred Natural Site: Jor Pokhari Mandir is a site of deep spiritual and natural significance located in Phuncheybong. The name 'Jor Pokhari' translates to "Twin Lakes," referring to the naturally formed water bodies in the area. According to local legend, there were originally two lakes—a male a nd a female. The male lake is said to have mysteriously migrated to Khecheopalri Lake, leaving the female lake behind. This spot is also famous for its natural cave, which has been used for meditation and spiritual practices for decades. A temple was constructed here in 1999, further solidifying its status as a place of worship and pilgrimage. The sanctuary is surrounded by dense forests, creating a tranquil environment that is perfect for those seeking solitude. The site is not just a religious destination but also a biodiversity hotspot, home to various bird species and rare plants. It is a place where the myths of the land come alive, offering a unique blend of faith and nature.
