Kunjapuri Temple

Dhanaulti, Uttarakhand, India
Kunjapuri Devi Temple is a highly revered Shakti Peetha perched atop a hill at an altitude of 1,676 meters. It is located on the route between Rishikesh and Chamba, approximately 40 KMS from Dhanaulti. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Sati and is part of the sacred "Devi Triangle," which includes Surkanda Devi and Chandrabadni temples. According to mythology, the upper part of Goddess Sati's body fell here while Lord Shiva was carrying her. Beyond its religious significance, the temple is world-famous for its 360-degree panoramic views. To the north, visitors can see snow-capped Himalayan peaks like Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba, and Swargarohini. To the south, the view stretches over the Rishikesh valley and the Ganga river. Reaching the temple involves climbing about 300 steps from the road, which is a rewarding experience. It is a favorite spot for yoga practitioners and meditators due to its tranquil atmosphere. The sunrise from this peak is considered one of the most beautiful in the Garhwal region, attracting hundreds of photographers and nature lovers every morning. The temple complex is well-maintained and provides a sense of deep peace and spiritual energy to everyone who visits.
