Mahamuni Pagoda

Udaipur, Tripura, India
Place Details: The Mahamuni Pagoda is a significant Buddhist shrine located in the southern part of Tripura. While it is a bit of a drive from Udaipur, it remains a core part of the Udaipur-Sabroom circuit. This pagoda was built by the Mog community leaders to house a sacred image of Lord Buddha bro ught from Myanmar. The site is a melting pot of Tripuri, Mog, and Burmese cultures. The peaceful surroundings of Manubankul village add to its charm. It is particularly famous for the Mahamuni Fair, which attracts thousands of pilgrims from Myanmar, Thailand, and Bangladesh. The monastery serves as a center for Buddhist learning and spiritual retreat, making it a unique destination in a predominantly Hindu-temple city region.
