Raj Dari Waterfall

Vindhyachal, Uttar Pradesh, India
Raj Dari Waterfall is a magnificent stepped waterfall located within the Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary. While slightly further from the main Vindhyachal temple, it is the premier nature getaway for pilgrims. The waterfall is formed by the Chandraprabha river falling over a series of rock terrace s, creating a wide, white curtain of water that is especially breathtaking during the Monsoon. The area is surrounded by lush green forests that are home to a variety of flora and fauna. It was originally developed as a hunting preserve for the rulers of Benares, but today it serves as a conservation zone and a major tourist attraction. The sound of the falling water can be heard from a distance, and the mist created by the fall keeps the temperature cool even in summer. There is a well-maintained park and viewpoint at the top, allowing families to enjoy a safe view of the abyss. For the more adventurous, there are paths that lead closer to the base. The geological formations here are millions of years old, showing the distinct layering of the Vindhyan plateaus. It is a perfect escape from the humidity and noise of the city, offering a "hill station" vibe in the heart of Uttar Pradesh. The nearby Dev Dari fall is also accessible from here, making it a double treat for nature lovers.
