Ram Rekha Dham

Simdega, Jharkhand, India
Spiritual and Mythological Hub: Ram Rekha Dham is the most famous and sacred tourist destination in Simdega. According to the Ramayana, Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lord Lakshman spent a significant portion of their 14-year exile (Banwas) at this very spot. The Dham is located atop a hill and featur es a natural cave temple housing idols of the holy trio along with Lord Shiva and Hanuman. The name "Ram Rekha" comes from the belief that Lord Rama drew a line (Rekha) here. The site is dotted with mythological landmarks like the Sita Chulha (where Sita cooked), Agni Kund, and Charan Paduka (footprints). Every year during Kartik Purnima, a massive fair (Mela) is organized, drawing lakhs of devotees from Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The atmosphere during the mela is electric with spiritual chants and tribal cultural performances. Even outside the festival season, the Dham remains a place of profound peace, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys. It is a site where faith meets nature, providing a spiritual sanctuary for all who visit.
