Tarey Bhir is one of the most visually stunning and unique geographical landmarks in the Soreng-Namchi region. The word 'Bhir' in the local Nepali language means "cliff," and this site lives up to its name with a massive 3,500-foot drop into the abyss. It is often referred to as the "Great Wall of Sikkim" because of the 3-KM long pedestrian pathway that has been constructed along the very edge of the ridge. This stone-paved walkway, complete with safety railings, offers an adrenaline-pumping experience as you walk with the sheer cliff on one side and a lush pine forest on the other. The panoramic views from Tarey Bhir are unparalleled, encompassing the confluence of the Teesta and Rangeet rivers, the rolling hills of Darjeeling, and the distant Himalayan peaks. The area is also a natural habitat for the rare Bharal (blue sheep), which can often be seen grazing on the steep, inaccessible slopes of the cliff.
