Located at an altitude of 2,200 meters in the serene Urgam Valley of Chamoli, it is uniquely known as the only Panch Kedar temple that remains accessible throughout the year. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, specifically his Jata or matted hair, which according to legend, appeared here after the Pandavas sought his blessings. The journey to the temple is a blend of a scenic drive and a short, easy trek through lush forests and apple orchards. The Urgam Valley itself is a hidden paradise, characterized by terrace fields where locals grow potatoes and large apple orchards that fill the air with a sweet aroma.
