Travel Tips Of Kausani View Point

Kausani, Uttarakhand, India
The Epicenter of Himalayan Views: The Kausani View Point, often referred to as Himalaya Darshan, is the principal viewing platform that cemented Kausani's reputation as a premier hill station. It offers a spectacular, unobstructed, and vast panorama spanning over 300 KM of the majestic Himalayan ran ge. From this spot, one can clearly identify several famous, snow-capped peaks, most notably the colossal trio: Trishul (7,120m), Nanda Devi (7,816m - India's second-highest), and Panchachuli (6,904m). The viewpoint is located on a high ridge amidst dense pine forests, overlooking the Someshwar and Garur valleys. It is renowned for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views, which paint the white peaks in hues of gold, pink, and orange. Being adjacent to the KMVN Tourist Rest House, it is easily accessible and a mandatory stop for all visitors to Kausani. The sheer scale and clarity of the view here are what inspired Mahatma Gandhi to famously declare Kausani the 'Switzerland of India'.:

Tourism Tips

Health & Safety: Dress in layers; the temperature is very cold before sunrise. Be cautious when walking in the dark. Altitude Sickness is usually not an issue here, but walk slowly.

Packing: Bring a torch/headlamp for the pre-dawn walk. A tripod is essential for quality sunrise/sunset/night photography. Carry a thermos of hot tea/coffee.

Crowd Management: For sunrise, arrive at least 30 minutes early to secure the best spot on the railing, especially during peak season (May-June and October).

Respecting the View: Do not litter and keep noise to a minimum, especially during the quiet hours of dawn.:
