Weather And Best Time To Visit In Dras
Weather and Best Time to Visit
Summer Window: June to September is the most comfortable time to visit Dras. The temperatures are pleasant, ranging from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. This is the only time when you can fully enjoy the green meadows and outdoor activities. The war memorial is also best visited during these clear and sunny months.
Winter Experience: For the truly adventurous, visiting in February is the only way to experience the "second coldest" status. However, this is not recommended for regular tourists as the conditions are extreme and life-threatening. The town is covered in meters of snow, and temperatures stay well below freezing. It is a time for extreme endurance and seeing the world in a frozen state.
Different Parts of the Day: Morning is the most beautiful time in the valley, with the mist rising from the Dras River. The air is incredibly fresh and the light on the peaks is perfect for photos. Late afternoon is the best time for a somber visit to the war memorial as the sun sets. The nights are very cold, even in summer, so plan your outdoor activities for the daylight hours.
