Ban Ganga Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra, Haryana, India
The Site of the Miraculous Spring: Ban Ganga is a deeply symbolic site located in Dayalpur. According to the Mahabharata, during the final days of the war, the patriarch Bhishma Pitamah lay on a bed of arrows (Sharshaiya). Feeling thirsty, he asked for water. Arjuna, his favorite grandson, shot an a rrow into the earth, and a stream of the holy Ganga gushed out to quench the thirst of the dying warrior. This site is commemorated by a sacred water tank and a small temple. It represents the filial duty and the unmatched archery skills of Arjuna. The water in the tank is considered as holy as the Ganges itself. Devotees visit here to take a dip and reflect on the lessons of the great epic. The site is surrounded by tall trees and has a tranquil atmosphere, making it a place of deep spiritual significance. Over time, it has become a central part of the Bhishma Circuit, which includes the nearby Bhishma Kund at Narkatari. The legend of the arrow-born spring is one of the most touching stories of the war, highlighting compassion amidst the brutality of battle.
