Bileshwar Mahadev Temple
The Bileshwar Mahadev Temple is a highly revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on the banks of the Bileshwar River. Dating back to the 7th Century, it is one of the oldest and most architecturally significant temples in the Saurashtra region. The temple's name is derived from the Bilva le aves that Lord Krishna is said to have offered to Shiva here while praying for a son. Legend also states that the statue of Nandi outside the temple miraculously protected the shrine from the invading army of Aurangzeb. The atmosphere is deeply spiritual, surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle sound of the flowing river. The temple houses a Swayambhu (self-manifested) Shivling, along with idols of Goddess Parvati and Devi Ganga. It is a protected monument under the Gujarat Archaeological Act, ensuring its historical integrity is preserved for future generations.
