The intricate designs are created using a tie-and-dye technique where the patterns are dyed into the threads before weaving begins. Walking through the narrow lanes of Maniabandha, one can hear the rhythmic "clack-clack" of wooden looms from almost every household. The villagers are incredibly hospitable and often invite visitors into their homes to witness the painstaking process of creating a single saree, which can take weeks. This village represents a beautiful confluence of religious harmony and artistic excellence that has survived for centuries. It is not just a place for shopping but a living museum of ancient textile technology and peaceful living. The village is situated near the banks of the Mahanadi River, adding a scenic dimension to the cultural experience.
