Historical Legacy: It is one of the chain of forts built by the Ikkeri Nayakas, representing the last phase of independent Hindu kingdoms in the region before the Mysore invasions. -

Nayaka Military Style: The fort follows the Dravidian-Nayaka architectural style, characterized by massive walls built of high-quality brick and laterite. The main walls are approximately 15 feet high and 10 feet thick to withstand artillery.

The Round Bastions: The fort features unique circular bastions with a diameter of roughly 8 meters. These were designed to provide a wide field of fire for the defenders. The Nityananda Ashram caves within the fort are carved out of solid laterite rock, showcasing incredible manual masonry. -
