The European Influence: The Jagtial Fort, also known as Quilla Gadda, is a unique architectural masterpiece in Telangana, renowned for being the only star-shaped fort in the state, a design that reflects a rare fusion of local and European military engineering. Built in the 17th century during the r eign of Nawab Ibrahim, a governor under the Mughals, the fort was conceptualized and constructed with the help of two French engineers, Jack and Tal, whose names combined to give the town its name, Jagtial. The fort is surrounded by a deep, wide moat that was historically filled with water to provide a formidable defense against invaders, a feature that still exists today and adds to its scenic charm. Within its walls, one can find ancient cannons, massive wooden gates operated by pulleys, and the historic Jama Masjid, which dates back to the 18th century. Despite the passage of time and some parts being in ruins, the fort remains a symbol of the town's glorious past and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the military history and unique architecture of India.

How to Reach

By Air Transport: From Hyderabad Airport, take a direct bus or taxi to Jagtial; once in the city, the fort is just a short 2 KM ride away from the main commercial centers and transport hubs.

By Train Connectivity: Arrive at the Lingampet Jagtial Railway Station (LPJL) and take a local auto-rickshaw; the journey to the fort takes only 15 minutes and is a very convenient option for rail travelers.

By Road Network: Jagtial is a major road hub; any bus arriving at the Jagtial Bus Stand will put you within 2 KMS of the fort, which can then be easily reached by foot or a very short auto-ride.

By Local Transport: Inside the town, every auto-driver is familiar with "Killa Gadda" (the local name for the fort); a shared auto costs as little as 10 INR, while a private one will cost around 50 INR for the drop.
