A 312-Foot Natural Wonder: Tiger Falls, locally known as Keraao Pachad or Kailu Pachad, is the most famous and spectacular natural attraction near Chakrata. It is renowned as one of the highest direct waterfalls in Uttarakhand, with water plunging majestically from an estimated height of 312 feet (a bout 95 meters) into a clear, inviting pool at its base. Located deep in the dense Kanaser forest range, the falls are approximately 20-25 kilometers from Chakrata market. Reaching the base involves an exhilarating trek of about 5 kilometers downhill from the road head, winding through forests of deodar and rhododendron trees, or a shorter, steeper trek of about 1 kilometer from a different, less-maintained road. The sheer volume and force of the water create a constant, resounding roar. The pool at the bottom is a major draw, where visitors often take a refreshing bath. The entire area is pristine, untarnished by commercial activity, offering a truly immersive experience in a wild, forest environment. It is a must-visit for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.

How to Reach

By Air: Nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun (DED), approximately 115-120 KMS away. Hire a private cab to the Tiger Falls road head via Chakrata; By Train: Nearest major railway station is Dehradun Railway Station (DDN), approximately 105-110 KMS away. Take a taxi or local bus to Chakrata, and then switch to a local cab for the road head; By Road: Tiger Falls is about 20-25 KMS from Chakrata market. The road is motorable but can be rough and narrow. Drive to the road head (parking area), followed by the 1-5 KM trek; By Local Transport: Dedicated local taxis/cabs are the most reliable option from Chakrata for the return trip to the road head, as shared transport is infrequent.
