The name originates from the Visakhapatnam fishing families who migrated here in the 1960s t o work on the dam project and eventually settled by the reservoir. This place has earned the nickname Mini Goa due to its vast expanse of blue water, golden sand-like shores during low tide, and the serene island-like atmosphere. The area is surrounded by the lush green Nallamala hills, providing a breathtaking backdrop that contrasts beautifully with the deep blue waters. By Air: The nearest international airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, located about 140 KMS away. From the airport, you can hire a private taxi or take a bus to Mallepalli or Devarakonda, and then proceed to the colony. The drive from the airport takes approximately 3. 5 to 4 hours.

By Train: The nearest major railway station is Nalgonda Railway Station, which is well-connected to Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana. From the station, the beach is about 85 KMS away. You can find local buses or private cabs at the station that can take you directly to Vizag Colony via Devarakonda.

By Road: From Jangaon, the road trip involves traveling towards Nalgonda and then heading to Devarakonda. The route usually follows the NH 65 and then transitions to state highways. The roads are generally in good condition, passing through scenic rural landscapes and tribal hamlets. The journey by private car is the most convenient option.

By Local Transport: Local RTC buses run from Hyderabad (MGBS) and Nalgonda to Devarakonda. From Devarakonda, you can find smaller shared autos or local buses that go towards Azmapur. It is important to note that public transport frequency to the exact colony location is limited, so hiring a private vehicle is highly advised for travelers.
