Kailashahar Tea Garden

Chabimura, Tripura, India
Green Heritage: Although the main Kailashahar Tea Gardens are a distance away, they are a vital part of the Tripura tourism circuit often paired with a visit to Chabimura. These gardens date back to 1916 and are known for producing some of the finest organic tea in Northeast India. The rolling hills are covered in a carpet of vibrant green tea bushes, meticulously pruned by local workers. Walking through the narrow paths between the bushes provides a serene experience. The aroma of fresh tea leaves being processed in nearby factories often wafts through the air. The gardens are particularly beautiful in the morning when the dew drops glisten on the leaves. It represents the colonial-era history of the state mixed with modern tribal labor. Many visitors stop here to take photographs in traditional attire provided by the garden authorities. The tea produced here is mostly CTC and Green tea, which is sold in local markets. It is a peaceful detour that adds a different flavor to the rugged adventure of Chabimura.
